The Craftsman’s Forge

We’ve just completed moving our office from Gateway to Science Park. Yeah…I’m now located miles from civilization. Thankfully, everything went well, and the staff are happy with the new office. But let it be known….this is the absolute LAST TIME I’m ever gonna get involved with an entire office move. Heck, I did everything myself! (with support from my boss of course!) Down to the negotiation with the landlord and the finding of our replacement tenant at Gateway, negotiating the takeover fees, and of course, managing the design, renovation of the entire new office space.

Trust me. Its a thankless job, but its satisfying to see everything come together nicely.

Well, enough of playing Chief Operating Officer. Now, I’m mentally gearing up to get back into my IT shoes. I’m heading out to India to visit my office, and work with them on IT issues. I’m so looking forward to getting out of Singapore for a bit. But, I still hate airline food!

Saw this accident on our way back from church this morning in Bukit Panjang. I hope everyone is ok. Didn’t think much of it until Chris asked me if I was going to buy 4D…. hmm…. maybe I would!

Actually, if you look closely, you can see that both cars are Toyota Corollas. One is an old Corolla, maybe 20 years old. The other, is a new Corolla Altis. Look which one is more smashed up. Huh! They make these cars with Milo tins now I tell yah!

I really hate the new User Interface on DBS’s ATM machines. They’ve put all three official languages on one screen. So, you no longer get the opportunity to choose the language you want, but get all three languages splashed across the screen. And, it can get really confusing at times. I withdrew by mistake S$1,000 this afternoon after I pressed a wrong button due to parallax error as a result of DBS squeezing too many text on the screen! Grrrrrhhh!!!

It’s been a while since I left the country on business. The IT project completed successfully in December last year, and the IT environment has stabilised. I’m now kept busy with a pending office move. Yes. We’ve outgrown our office at The Gateway, and will be moving to Science Park II.

Once we move over, I’ll be flying again. Actually….after a two and a half month break from traveling, it does feel good to finally get out of the country for a bit. Ha! I’m actually looking forward to my trip to Ahmedabad in Feb.

I’ve been sitting in the dark for nearly an hour. I suspect a fuse blew in the main electricity DB in my house, and I’m waiting for the electrician to come fix it. Sigh…

Update-11:27pm: Yup, I was right. A fuse blew. Electrician suspects the culprit could be the two main lights in the living room. Hes gonna change the fuse for me, and troubleshoot the lights…..and I’m gonna be $280 poorer. Bah!

We went back to Covenant last Sunday. This was also after attending our new cell group on Saturday evening. The cell group by the way was excellent. Young families with kids running around like monkeys. We don’t feel alone anymore! Felt good that there are parents like us suffering as well! Ha ha ha

Then, on Sunday, attending service after a month at City Harvest was like going back to the eighties. All the songs were so much slower, the musicians were a lot more raw, sermon was a lot shorter, less jumping around, more bible centered teaching, and boy…. is it good to be back home….

I just saw this video. Man!!! This is WAAAYYYYYY COOL!!! Here is the Multi Touch technology demo-ed back in 2006. This is the technology used in iphone. I can guess what is the next generation of Macbooks that will come out!

Too bad it will only be available in Asia from 2008. A damn long time to wait for a phone man…. But totally necessary, cos it appears to me that you need a Telco’s network support in order to utilise all of the phone’s capabilities. This will be a busy negotiation year for Apple worldwide.
